A little creative time to look forward to
Tanglewood isn’t only somewhere to escape to for a special retreat day. We also want it to be a lovely little creative home for the people who live around us.
Tanglewood Community is our collection of smaller, regular classes created especially for local makers — a chance to get out of the house, spend a few hours doing something creative and get to know other people who enjoy making too.
You don’t need loads of experience, and you certainly don’t need to think of yourself as “crafty”.
Some people come because they want to learn or improve a skill.
Some simply want a reason to put a regular bit of creative time into the diary.
And some come because making things is just nicer when there’s someone to chat to while you do it.
Classes are deliberately small, relaxed and friendly, with plenty of help when you need it and no pressure to keep up with anyone else.
From our regular daytime craft sessions to private sewing tuition, these are simpler Tanglewood experiences — without the spa and retreat-day extras — designed for people who want creativity to become part of everyday life rather than only something saved for special occasions.
So bring the project you’ve been meaning to finish, come and learn something new, or simply give yourself a few hours each week to make, chat and switch off.

Craft Club
Make. Chat. Try something new.
Each session gives you time to settle in, make something and enjoy the company of a small, friendly group. We’ll explore different projects and techniques, with plenty of guidance and no expectation that you already know what you’re doing.
Come on your own — most people do — and don’t worry about fitting in. The idea is simply to create a welcoming group where familiar faces gradually become part of the experience.
Card Making
Seasonal cards, lovely techniques and a couple of hours to switch off!
Our card making class has been one of the most popular regular classes at Craft My Day for the past four years — and now we’re bringing it to Tanglewood.
Each session is based around a seasonal theme, with a selection of beautiful cards to make and plenty of different techniques to try along the way. You might be stamping, ink blending, die cutting, embossing, layering, adding texture or experimenting with something completely new.
Everything is prepared for you, so you can simply arrive, settle in and enjoy making.
It’s a relaxed, friendly class where you can learn new skills, build your confidence and go home with a collection of cards you’ll actually be excited to send.
And because the themes change throughout the year, there’s always something new to make — from birthdays and spring florals to autumn designs and, of course, plenty of Christmas cards.
Private Sewing Classes
Sewing help that's completely about you.
Whether you’re completely new to sewing, struggling with a project at home or want to build your confidence with your machine, private sewing sessions give you dedicated time and support at your own pace.
Bring your own project, learn a particular technique or start from the beginning. There’s no class to keep up with and no need to worry about what anyone else is doing — we can concentrate on exactly what you want to learn.
Come on your own or with a friend, have a cup of tea, enjoy a couple of creative hours and leave with something lovely you’ve made yourself.

Had a fabulous day!! We started by making a spring wreath, I've always wanted to do this but never gotten around to it. Its now hanging on my front door and looks gorgeous Then we had a yummy afternoon tea lunch, the cakes were particularly tasty! And finally we had an afternoon chilling in the heated pool, sauna and jacuzzi! So nice to have something like that all to yourselves as it's in the garden of the Tanglewood studio. Keeping my eye out for another craft spa day soon :) Thanks Rachel for being a brilliant crafting teacher and spa host!
I spent a wonderful day at Tanglewood Studio. The craft spa experience I booked was Powertex Highland Cow. On arrival I was met by the wonderful host Rachel, who explained all about the day’s activities. In the morning session we crafted a miniature version of a Highland Cow using Powertex. A medium that I had not used before, her explanation was very helpful. Then lunch was then provided, which was excellent . The afternoon session was spent in the spa, was very relaxing. I highly recommend these craft and spa experiences day. I am looking forward to my next one.
